I like the fact that I had choices

I like the fact that I had choices. I chose the best round lab diamond I could find in my price range and picked a vintage setting that was similar to the style that my fiancee liked. She loves this ring. All her family, friends, and co-workers are so happy for her and can’t believe how gorgeous this ring is. and I agree. I got a lot more quality and value from James Allen then from what was offered by the traditional jewellery stores I had visited prior to searching online. The shipping was fast and easy too. So far no problems. It was a great experience.

I recommend doing research on the different cuts, color, and clarity before choosing your diamond and you won’t be disappointed.

Not happy with update experience at all!

Had a great experience with my first diamond our purchase, but unfortunately I’m Having the worst experience currently with doing the diamond upgrade program. They make it seem so simple until they tell you you didn’t return a diamond certificate that you know you 100% returned because you packaged it yourself and put both in there, and now they are threatening that they will charge us $150 for a piece of paperwork that I returned!! Also they are doing their “investigation” which has taken days upon days for something that doesn’t seem like should take that long especially when I know I returned both diamond certificates!!

They are putting this much effort in to falsely claim and threatening to charge us when we spend $10,000 on a pair of diamond earring! I’ve been calling and emailing almost everyday for a week and it took over 3 days to get in touch with a manager who didn’t even call me but emailed me. First of all not everyone checks their email religiously, so I could have missed the email. I told them on numerous occasions I wanted to speak to a manager, and I have yet to get a call from a manager. We are still waiting for them to complete their “investigation” so we can be refunded back our old diamonds we returned that was over $3000 and I have yet to hear back about where that money is.

They have my old diamonds and all the paperwork including both diamond certificate’s, and I have no refund yet!! Please please do yourself a favor and do not upgrade your diamond with this company they do no own their diamonds, and take forever to respond, or give you an update. Basically their customer service suck!! Go to Blue Nile instead. I should have just stuck with Blue Nile.

Shame! Shane! Shame! We need our full refund ASAP or I will be contacting my credit card company. At this point I don’t even want the new $10,000 earring my husband purchased that was a bday gift, that I still haven’t received because their shipping takes forever) because this whole experience has put a bad taste in my mouth from this company. We are out almost $14,000 at this point and no earrings or refund.

A huge headache

If you’re going to purchase from here, do not get anything resized or repaired. I had to wait 4 weeks to have my engagement ring resized. When it finally arrived, the prongs were all wonky, twisted, and uneven. The ring box they used was also pre-used with clear signs of tear and marks. Although the customer rep (Bri) who I spoke to was nice, she informed me that I would have to wait another 3-4 weeks for the prongs to be repaired. The ring was sent back to be resized — nothing else should’ve been touched. If they can’t handle something as simple as resizing a ring without messing up anything else, how can I be assured that they won’t screw up the second time.

How do I know if they switched out my diamond or not. Why were the prongs touched?! I will definitely not purchase our wedding ring or anything else from here. Be aware of what you’re getting into and do not purchase from James Allen.

While service orders are currently running a 3-4 week turnaround time, we can certainly monitor an order to expedite correction of any issues that arose as a result of our work. Prong tightening is generally needed anytime a ring is worked on as any alternation to the shank can cause these to loosen up. Your center diamond would have been confirmed prior to shipping back out to you, but this can easily be verified by taking your ring and the grading certificate to a local gemologist for review.

I’m honestly blown away at how great…

I’m honestly blown away at how great the ring came out. I was skeptical ordering one offline but it was perfect. The proposal went off without any problems and she hasn’t wanted to take the ring off since. I got a half carat diamond with E color and Internally Flawless clarity. The band are little rose bud diamonds.

I love it and so does she.

Order With A Side of Identity Fraud

Do not give in to this company’s risky identity verification procedure. They are failing to protect their customers by internally collecting identification information instead of using a secure, trusted third party. Here is my experience with their extremely poor customer service. I placed an order. They sent me a link to verify my identity. It gave two options.

One was to provide a .edu or company email to verify. The other was to send a selfie with a driver’s license number and a credit card in the same selfie. I sent an .edu email from a mainstream university. Without explanation, they said it was rejected. I sent a reply.

I then sent multiple other emails, this time using the link to do a company email verification. They did not reply at all. Instead, they cancelled my order. When they did cancel, they did not inform me. My experience leads me to believe the .edu and company verification options are false and they will only really accept a selfie. The selfie is a ludicrous identification verification that places customers at risk. The company can prevent chargebacks/fraud by using third party vendors to verify your identity.

For example, ID.me allows consumers to prove who they are online while controlling how their information is shared with brands. Companies like this also encrypt and secure the information to protect you. James Allen apparently is doing this information collection on their own with unsecured emails that place the customers at high risk of identity fraud. None of their explanations truly safeguard you They claim you can blackout certain information in the selfie. While this is true, their customer service limits it to the driver’s license number and all but 4 credit card numbers. There are two problems with this.

One, they are not upfront with this. The link that tells you about the selfie option does not state you can blackout anything. So I am sure they have many customers sending more info than they require. Two, some state’s have social security numbers on their driver’s licenses. When asking customer service if I could blackout my SSN, they would only repeat I could blackout the other information stated above. They claim to limit their employees access to this information, but that is still risky.

We see data breaches all the time, sometimes by rogue employees. They do not have a public policy on encrypting and storing your data, so for all we know it is unencrypted and easily accessed. Also asking you to email this much information in one selfie already places you at a high risk in itself. Despite their claim to the contrary, the information they collect can be used for identity fraud. They will also claim you can skip this process by wiring them the full amount of money. Why should we have to do this just because their identification process is pathetic?

Doing so allows them to avoid letting customers take advantage of monthly (0% APR) payment option they use to bring in customers. I also read others have issues with their return policy, so wiring all the money upfront makes it easy for them to leave you high and dry by refusing a return. If I had all this trouble with trying to buy from their company, I imagine I would have a lot more of the same with a return. I predict they will eventually have a major data breach and get sued into oblivion, and they certainly deserve it. Their practice is reckless, and no jewelry is worth having your identity stolen.

Do yourself a favor and refuse to shop here until they charge their practices.
